UPC barcode questions

Can I enter 11 or 12 digits?

Yes. With 11 digits, PrivQR calculates and adds the final check digit. With 12 digits, it checks the supplied check digit and rejects a mismatch. Leading zeros are preserved. Spaces inside the number, letters and other lengths are not accepted.

Does this tool give me a new UPC number?

No. It turns a number you already have into a barcode image. A valid check digit only confirms the number’s structure; it does not prove that the number is assigned to your product. Obtain the appropriate product identifier from GS1 and check your retailer’s requirements.

Which download should I use?

Use SVG for vector artwork and crisp resizing in design software. PNG is a high-resolution image with print-size metadata. Both include the readable number and white margins. Preserve the proportions and margins when placing the image in your artwork.

How do I print the barcode or save a PDF?

Generate a barcode, choose A4 or US Letter and select Print / Save PDF. The print document contains the barcode at the displayed size. Use 100% or Actual size, disable headers and footers, and choose Save as PDF if needed. Scan a physical sample with your intended scanner before making more.

Is the barcode free and private?

Yes. There is no account or fee. Your number and generated barcode files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to PrivQR. Optional analytics record tool actions, not your barcode number.

Is this a certified retail barcode?

No. PrivQR checks the data and digitally decodes the rendered image, but does not certify print quality, GS1 registration or retailer acceptance. Your final size, packaging, printer and scanner still need to be checked.
